PAU College Of Agriculture Organises 15th Convocation

Ludhiana, January 25, 2016: PAU College of Agriculture organised its 15th Convocation at Pal Auditorium, today. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Prof.Ramesh Chand, Member, NITI AYOG in the rank and status of Union Minister of State, Government of India. Dr.B.S.Dhillon, Vice Chancellor of the University was the Guest of Honour. In his congratulatory address to the students, Prof. Ramesh Chand hailed the students as harbingers of change and urged them to contribute towards the strengthening of the agricultural sector as India’s progress is dependent on its large farming community. He stressed on the need for science based commercial agriculture which should replace conventional agriculture. While giving the convocation address, Prof. Ramesh Chand applauded the University for its contribution towards ushering in green revolution and in moving India from a basket case to a large surplus in food staples.
A total of 289 students passing out in the year 2014-15 from the disciplines of B. Sc. (Biotechnology), B. Tech. (Food technology), B. Sc. Agriculture four year programme as well as six year programme received their respective degrees. Merit Certificates were awarded to 40 students excelling in various batches. Nine students were also awarded gold medals. The Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr. Harwinder Singh Dhaliwal shed light on the various College activities and projects. Also present on the occasion were, Member Board of Management, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Chancellor of Central University, Bathinda, Dr. Sardara Singh Johl and Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, former Vice Chancellor, PAU along with other dignitaries.
