Chandigarh, June 25, 2014: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shivraj V.Patil today reviewed the pending projects of the shooting range in Chandigarh.

Patil asked senior civil and police officer to complete all ongoing works on priority in a time bound manner so that the proposed All India Police Duty Shooting Competition could be held in time. He asked them to put in their efforts to further develop and equip this range with all latest and modern facilities to make this one of the safest and the best shooting range in the region if not in the country. He asked officers to provide all facilities to the competitors for which the Hostel Block is also to come up within Shooting Complex.

Patil said that besides organizing shooting competitions this range would be useful in imparting weapon training to police personals. He said that he had already discussed with senior Army officers to impart training to police personals. He said that weapons should be a part of the body. He said if body and mind are not tuned with weapon it will not give you the desired results, for which practice and training is required.

Besides this, Patil also reviewed the ongoing work of Police Housing Complex at Dhanas and Gazatted Officers Mess that is coming up at Sector 26, Police Line, Chandigarh. He appreciated the ongoing progress at the IRB Complex at Sarangpur which is nearing completion.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included K.K. Sharma, Advisor to Administrator, Rajinder Upadhya, Inspector General of Police, M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Satya Gopal, Chairman Chandigarh Housing Board, Sarvjit Singh, Finance Secretary, Parvinder Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Director TBRL and other civil and police officers.
