Orientation Course For Young Faculty Of PAU Inaugurated

Ludhiana, August 18, 2015: An orientation course on “Teaching, Research and Extension” began in the Department of Home Science Extension and Communication Management, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. About 35 faculty members from Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Regional Research Stations and other departments of PAU are participating in this course.

The Chief Guest, Dr Neelam Grewal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, while inaugurating the course, said, “Young faculty of PAU is shouldered with the responsibility of adding new knowledge to the subjects, preparing great scientists and improving the lives of farming community through the process of teaching, research and extension.” She further expressed that this course would equip the trainees with the requisite skills to fulfil the mandate of PAU.

Dr Jatinder Kishtwaria, Dean, College of Home Science and Head of the Department of Home Science Extension and Communication Management, welcomed the chief guest and the participants. She also highlighted the academic programmes of the College.

Dr Sukhjeet Kaur, Course Director, explained the objectives of the course and said, “Besides fulfilling the mandate of the university, the course is in tune with the national programme ‘Mera Gaon mera Gaurav’ recently launched by the Prime Minister, Narender Modi. Under this programme, it is planned that more than 20,000 agriculture scientists from the country will be required to divide their attention between research and extension.”
