Open Quiz Competition on topic “Aaykar Divas 2023- A Journey Towards Nation Building” at PCM S College for Women

The PG Department of Commerce and Management of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organized an Open Quiz Competition on the topic – “Aaykar Divas 2023- A Journey Towards Nation Building” to commemorate the Income Tax Day.

Jalandhar, August 1,2023:  The PG Department of Commerce and Management of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar organized an Open Quiz Competition on the topic – “Aaykar Divas 2023- A Journey Towards Nation Building” to commemorate the Income Tax Day. 


Income Tax Day, also known as Aaykar Diwas, is celebrated by Income Tax Department every year on July 24. The day is celebrated on July 24 as it was on this day in 1860 when Sir James Wilson introduced income tax for the first time in India. This step was taken to compensate the British government for the losses incurred during the First War of Independence in 1857. The first Income Tax Day in India was celebrated on July 24, 2010. Income Tax Day is celebrated with a number of outreach programmes and events designed to promote tax payments and educate future taxpayers about the importance of tax payments. Keeping this in mind the quiz on Income Tax was organized so as to increase awareness amongst the students about Income Tax and Indian Taxation System. The students of B. Com Semester III and Semester V (regular and financial services) actively participated in the quiz. It was an innovative approach to educate the students regarding the various aspects of Income Tax / Direct Tax Laws in India.  Khwahish, Damini, Vaishnavi of B. Com Semester  III, Diksha, Sonia, Isha, Sachi, Rajni of B. Com Sem V and Gargi, Roshni and Harsimar of B. Com Sem (FS) Sem V bagged the prizes. Around 58 students participated in the quiz enthusiastically. 

Alka Sharma, Head of the department and other staff members of the department were also present. President Naresh  Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, the other members of the  Management Committee and the worthy Principal of the college Prof.  (Dr.) Pooja Prashar applauded  the efforts of the Department of Commerce for successfully organizing the event.
