Addressing the students, Prof. Renu Vig referred to Swami Vivekananda’s approach to motivate the University toppers to serve society while helping the underprivileged and needy. She mentioned Swami Vivekananda’s advice to the students: “Take my advice: Set yourselves wholly to the service of others, when you come from your colleges. Believe me, far greater happiness would then be yours, than if you had had a whole treasury full of money and other valuables at your command.”
Prof. Vig stressed the importance of maintaining balance between personal and professional life. She encouraged everyone to work with clear purpose and mission in life. “Decide what you want to achieve and direct your efforts accordingly,” she added.
While referring to the Wall of Fame for distinguished alumni at the PU VC office, Prof. Vig expressed hope that in the next 30–40 years, members of the current batches will feature among those eminent personalities of PU, who served the country as Prime Ministers, Presidents, Chief Justices, Governors, and noted sportspersons.
Prof. Jagat Bhushan said that this function is not to hand over the medals to the toppers, but to honour their journeys, which must have started with a small step and carried on a path of perseverance to come out as achievers.
Director, Research and Development Cell Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, PU Registrar Prof. Y.P. Verma, Dean Student Welfare Prof. Amit Chauhan, Dean Student Welfare (Women) Prof. Namita Gupta, and many other officers, faculty members, and family members of the achievers were also present on the occasion.
