Onslaught on education of poor students under the garb of covid-19: AISF

Ludhiana: The All India Students Federation (AISF) district Ludhiana organized a Zoom Webinar on “Onslaught on Education of poor students under the garb of COVID 19”.  Participating in the discussion the students said huge loss is   being incurred in education, employment, health, economic downturn etc. across the country during the lockdown.
District Secretary Deepak Kumar said that the education, employment, health and economic condition of the country was being severely damaged and the lives of students, youth and laborers were being jeopardized due to which the lives of the people were in crisis day by day. But the government has not taken any action or taken any concrete steps to address these important issues. He said that if the government paid any attention, it would only focus on opening liquor contracts, which is a great shame. President Rajiv Kumar said that the government had opened thousands of new liquor contracts in Punjab during the lockdown and he said that if the government could open liquor contracts then why schools and colleges could not be opened as per the rules and classes of senior students be held in shifts maintaining physical distance. Whereas the students from the upper economic strata are getting online education, those from the lower income strata have been completely left out as they cannot afford to buy laptops or smart phones.
District Cashier Sourav Yadav said that the Central and State Governments were constantly trying to suppress the voices of students and youth to cover up their failures. All the members of AISF demanded the government to work seriously on these important issues as soon as possible or else there would be massive protests by AISF against the government.
The meeting was attended by Kartika Singh, Block Cashier Sunny Khera, Bittu Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Bhavish Mahato, Ramrit Yadav, Chand Kumar, Harish Kumar, Pradeep Khera, Partap Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Ruby Kumari, Sarvesh etc. Dr. Arun Mitra, MS Bhatia, Dr. Rajinderpal Singh also address the students.
