Chandigarh, December 9, 2015: The Punjab government today clarified that there was no financial crunch in the state and the government was generating sufficient resources to meet its commitment for salaries and other development expenditure.
Strongly refuting the reports appeared in a section of media that the government has borrowed for the purpose of meeting committed expenditure on salaries and pensions by mortgaging government property, an official spokesman of the government said that the reports were totally incorrect and misleading being bereft of facts. The government was steadily heading on the path of development and progress, he added. He also said that no loan was raised by PUDA which was used for meeting the committed expenditure by the Punjab government. He reiterated that the state government has been paying monthly salaries to the staff including pensions in time out of its own resources.
