Nevada(USA), July 20, 2014: Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval has commended distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed “for performing the opening prayer before the United States House of Representatives”.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, opened the US House of Representatives in Washington DC with a Hindu prayer on June 19. Earlier, he read the first Hindu invocation of United States Senate in 2007.

Sandoval, in his signed letter to Rajan Zed titled “Greetings From The Governor”, wrote: “I am honored that this religious leader is part of the Reno Community and the State of Nevada.”

In this letter of recognition, Governor stated: “Rajan’s dedication to furthering religion and religious dialogue, reflected by his numerous awards and achievements, including delivering the first Hindu opening prayers in both the Nevada Senate and Assembly, helps produce Nevada’s positive and tolerant religious environment.”

It notes: “Rajan has a distinguished career promoting interfaith dialogue”, and lists Zed’s various achievements.

Rajan Zed is a global Hindu and interfaith leader, who besides taking up the cause of religion worldwide, has also raised huge voice against the apartheid faced by about 15-million Roma (Gypsies) in Europe. Bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award; many cities in USA have named October 25 as “Rajan Zed Day”.
