Jalandhar, September 24, 2022: A national seminar was conducted by Disha Committee of Doaba College on National Education Policy 2020:  Opportunities and Challenges. Dr. Sunil Gupta, Chairman-State Higher Education Council, Himachal Pradesh was the Keynote speaker. Dr. Hardeep Singh- OSD to VC, GNDU and Dr. Ashwani Bhalla- Deputy Director, DPI, Chandigarh were other speakers. Chander Mohan –President College Managing Committee presided over the function.
The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Dr Ominder Johal-Convenor, Prof Sukhvinder Singh and Dr Suresh Mago-Organising Secretaries, Prof Naveen Joshi and other members of the committee.
Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari discussed how Doaba College is modifying itself to become more responsive and effective to changing scenario of education. Dr. Sunil Gupta, thereafter. introduced the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) to the participants. He told that draft of NEP-2020 was constituted of 500 pages and was made out to reach general people for their suggestions and almost 6 lakh suggestions received. The NEP-2020 strongly advocates that school education and higher education cannot be de-linked. NEP-2020 takes onto formalize the informal the pre-primary education It further conveys the idea of "Learn" play" till second standard, at NEP-2020 demarcates the concept to make a student employed or generate employment and this should work and that education policy should be responsible for this. NEP-2020 also emphasizes on skill oriented courses to help students get employed or generate employment. NEP-2030 also emphasizes on National Research foundation which will motivate students for research by providing incentives and fellowships. 

President, Chander Mohan further advised to improve  the policy implementation, interaction  of students and knowing about student's perspective to taken care of while implementing  NEP 2020. 

Dr. Hardeep Hardeep Singh, OSD to VC to improve interaction discussed the three stages of framing NEP-2020. First, framing rules, syllabi and implementation of framework. Second, includes training  of teachers. Third but most important factor is improvement in Evaluation.

Dr. Ashwani Bhalla discussed how NEP-2020 is based on 5 principles viz  Equity, Access to Education, Quality Affordability and Accountability. He  discussed that the vision of this policy is holistic development and will envisage to make  a student employable or capable of generating employment. Various teachers and research scholars from different colleges of the region attended the seminar.  The seminar was concluded by Dr. Ominder Johal who presented forma vote of thanks.
