Ludhiana, September 10, 2018: The Faculty of Hospitality, GNA University celebrated “National Nutrition Week”, 2K18 on the campus from September 1st, 2018 to September 7th, 2018. The Theme of National Nutrition Week 2018 was “Go forward with food & highlight on superfood in child development”. Chef Varinder Singh Rana, Deputy Dean-Faculty of Hospitality mentioned that the basic objective was to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition for health which has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately national development. During the first five days, a large number of competitions and activities were arranged for the students to spread awareness on importance of nutrition for better health through Poster/Painting making Competition, Rangoli Competition, Nutrition Based Model Exhibitions Displayed Competition, Best Short Video Making Competition, Paushtik Aahar (Nutritional Menu Competition) to motivate all the students to promote National Nutrition Week for Development and Growth of the Healthy Nation. On September 6, 2018 a guest lecture was arranged on “balanced diet”. “Dt.Ritika Bansal” from Patiala delivered a session on the “Awareness of Balanced Diet and its importance of Nutrition for Health”. She also suggested the daily diet meal plans which are required as per Body mass index of a person. On September 7, 2018 Awareness generation Program on importance of nutrition for health was held in nearby villages through “nukkad nattak”. Mr Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro-chancellor, GNA University also marked his auspicious presence and motivated the students to eat healthy and stay fit. He said that good nutrition prepares healthy individuals; it eventually leads to a healthy Nation. Prof (Dr) V. K Rattan, Vice Chancellor, GNA University encouraged the efforts of Faculty of Hospitality for initiating such kind of event. Prizes were distributed amongst winners by all the dignitaries. Ms Vaihali Thakur conveyed the vote of thanks. Chef Ashish Raina, Mr Gaurav Bathla, Ms Shagun and Mr Shiv Raj were present during the valedictory ceremony of the event.
