Municipal Council polls in Ludhiana district on Feb 25-ADC(D)

Ludhiana, February 24, 2015: DEO-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Supreet Singh Gulati has informed that for the smooth conduct of Municipal Council elections in the Ludhiana district, a total of 210 polling booths have been set up, out of which 99 booths are sensitive while 76 are very sensitive. He informed that a total of 1,541 police personnel would be deployed at different polling booths.
The Municipal Councils of Samrala, Doraha, Payal, Khanna, Jagraon and Raikot would go to polls tomorrow, i.e. February 25, 2015.
At Samrala, the total number of voters is 14,925 out of which 7,758 are men and 7,167 women, at Doraha, the total number of voters is 15,292 out of which 8,012 are men and 7,280 women. At Payal, the total number of voters is 5,662 out of which 3,027 are men and 2,635 women. At Khanna, the total number of voters is 89,361 out of which 46,787 are men and 42,574 women. At Jagraon, the total number of voters is 46,152 out of which 24,269 are men and 21,882 women. At Raikot, the total number of voters is 19,676 out of which 10,362 are men and 9,314 women.
The ADC (D) informed that for Samrala, Smt. Anuprita Johal, SDM Samrala, would be the Returning Officer. For a total of 15 wards, 15 booths have been set up in Samrala, where 60 polling persons and 24 polling person reserves, would be on duty. At Samrala, 11 booths are sensitive while three are very sensitive.
Similarly, for Doraha, Harjot Kaur, SDM Payal, would be the returning officer. Here, for a total of 15 wards, 18 booths have been set up, out of which 14 are sensitive. On these booths, 72 polling persons and 28 polling person reserves would be on duty.
At Payal, Harjot Kaur, SDM Payal, would be the returning officer. For 11 municipal wards, 11 booths have been set up and all of them are sensitive. A total of 44 polling persons and 26 polling person reserves have been deputed on duty there.
At Khanna, Ajay Kumar Sood, ADC cum SDM Khanna, would be the returning officer. For a total of 33 municipal wards here, a total of 98 booths have been set up out of which 19 are sensitive and 56 very sensitive. Here, 392 polling persons and 155 polling person reserves would be on duty.
At Jagraon, Rakesh Popli, SDM Jagraon, would be the returning officer. For 23 municipal wards, 49 booths have been set up out of which 33 are sensitive and 11 very sensitive. A total of 196 polling persons and 78 polling person reserves would be on duty here.
Similarly, at Raikot, Shena Aggarwal, SDM Raikot, have been appointed the returning officer. For 15 municipal wards of Raikot, 19 booths have been set up out of which 11 are sensitive and 6 very sensitive. Here, 76 polling persons and 33 polling person reserves have been deputed on duty.
ADC (D) Supreet Singh Gulati informed that out of total 1,541 police personnel on duty during municipal council polls, 613 police personnel would be deployed on polling stations and 928 on other duties. He urged the residents of Samrala, Doraha, Payal, Khanna, Jagraon and Raikot to exercise their right to vote tomorrow.
