MUNICIPAL CORPORATION ASKS RESIDENTS TO ENSURE SECURITY GATES IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COLONIES REMAIN OPEN FROM 5 AM TO 10 PM

· FROM 10 PM TO 5 AM, SECURITY GUARD TO REMAIN PRESENT AT ALL LOCKED SECURITY GATES · NO PERSON CAN BE STOPPED FROM USING PUBLIC STREETS: MC COMMISSIONER Ludhiana, March 27, 2019: The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana has asked the residents of all colonies/areas falling under its jurisdiction to ensure that all security gates installed by them should remain open from 5 am to 10 pm every day. And in case, the gates are to be locked for security purpose between 10 pm to 5 am, a security guard should remain present there so that the gate can be opened in case of an emergency. In a press release issued by MC Commissioner Mrs Kanwal Preet Kaur Brar, she stated that the residents of some colonies/areas have installed security gates in their areas. She said that due to the locking of gates during the day time, people cannot use the public streets. The MC Commissioner stated that as per the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act 1976, the Municipal Corporation can develop only those streets/roads, that are declared as "public streets" and nobody has the right to stop any person from using a "public street" at any given time. She urged the residents of such colonies/areas, where security gates have been installed, to ensure that all security gates installed by them should remain open from 5 am to 10 pm every day and in case, the gates are to be locked for security purpose between 10 pm to 5 am, a security guard should remain present there so that the gate can be opened in case of an emergency.
