Rohtak, July 19, 2025: Lok Sabha MP Deepender Hooda has said urgent steps should be taken to solve the problem of water logging so that farmers can sow their next crops on time. He said a detailed plan is needed for a permanent solution to the problem.
MP Deepender today visited Bhaini Surjan, Bhaini Chandrapal, Bhaini Bhairon, Bhaini Maharajpur, Bhaini Mato, Saiman and surrounding villages of Meham and met the villagers troubled by heavy waterlogging. He said that the administration should use all the resources for drainage in Bhaini Surjan, Bhaini Chandrapal, Bhaini Bhairon, Bhaini Maharajpur, Bhaini Mato, Saiman villages and should provide relief to the people from this problem as soon as possible.
The farmers present on the spot told their problems to the MP and said that due to rain; water logging occurred in a large area and the standing crops in the fields were completely ruined. “Due to water logging, hundreds of acres of cotton and millet crops have been ruined in the fields and the paddy crop is on the verge of being ruined,” he stated.
Deepender spoke to the Deputy Commissioner from the spot and asked the administration to take immediate steps for drainage and demanded that the government should immediately get special Girdawari done along with drainage and give compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre to the farmers for crop loss. Waterlogged villages should be declared flood-affected and all facilities should be provided. Meham MLA Balram Dangi was also present.
Expressing deep displeasure over the water logging in various places after the rains in Haryana, MP said crops and property have suffered heavy losses due to the lack of drainage system from villages to cities. “In most of the districts of the state, people are facing huge problems due to rainwater filling in fields, streets, roads, colonies, main routes and underpasses. Many colonies, markets and public places are filled with water up to the knees. Due to mud, slippery and foul smell on the roads, the general life is badly affected,” he pointed out.
Deepender said the government makes big claims of cleaning by spending crores of Rupees every year, despite the huge expenditure of crores of rupees annually in the name of cleaning, the fall in the cleanliness ranking of cities across the country has exposed the BJP government of Haryana. If there was a proper arrangement of sewer, drainage cleaning, drainage, then the situation would not have been so bad.
Deepender demanded that an adequate number of pumps, electric motors, electricity connections etc. should be arranged in the low-lying areas with water logging. He said that the situation is very bad from villages to cities. “The people sitting in the government have turned the municipal corporations into a den of corruption. Sanitation scams were carried out in all the municipal corporations,” he added.
Deepender alleged that the money meant for sanitation; which was to be spent on cleaning the city's sewerage system, drainage, was lost to corruption. The drains of the cities were not cleaned, but the money was wasted.
He added that the roads across the state were already dilapidated; their condition has worsened due to rain. “After the rains, there are reports of roads sinking, pedestrians getting injured due to large potholes on the roads. The risk of spreading infectious diseases is also increasing due to the dirty water of sewer overflow. On one hand, people are forced to walk on roads filled with rainwater, while on the other hand, the people sitting in the government are busy filling their pockets by committing scams,” he stated.
