Ludhiana, March 8, 2016: The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shiv Raj Singh Chouhan paid a special visit to the agricultural university today. He was accorded a formal welcome by Punjab Agriculture Minister, Sardar Tota Singh and the Vice Chancellors of PAU and GADVASU.

Also present on the occasion were Suresh Kumar, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary (Development), Government of Punjab, Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and officers of Punjab Agricultural University and GADVASU. Shri Chouhan expressed that in future collaboration between Agricultural Universities of both states will be made which will be beneficial for the peasantry.

Dr BS Dhillon, VC, PAU, extended floral greetings and later honoured the Chief Minister with a shawl and memento. As a part of the welcome address, Dr Dhillon outlined the teaching, research and extension activities of the university and said he looked forward to advice for newer ideas to strengthen the programmes at PAU for helping the farmers and farming community of the state.

The visit of the CM to the agri varsity came in the wake of his interest in the new technologies being developed and used by the plant breeding and plant pathology departments of the university. Mr. Chouhan later visited the field areas where he interacted with the university scientists. An exhibition depicting the work done by the university departments was also put up for the high profile dignitaries.
