MDU Launches its Community Radio Station; Dedicates to Society

On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee year of MDU, Rohtak and the 77th Republic Day, VC Prof. Rajbir Singh dedicated the university's community radio station to society. Established in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, this radio station will work to strengthen education, public awareness, and social dialogue.

Rohtak, January 27, 2026: On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee year of MDU, Rohtak and the 77th Republic Day, VC Prof. Rajbir Singh dedicated the university's community radio station to society. Established in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, this radio station will work to strengthen education, public awareness, and social dialogue.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh said that radio is an effective medium for establishing direct communication with society. Even in the digital age, its wide reach, simplicity, and reliability make it relevant. He said that this radio station will not be limited to the activities of the university but will become a platform for programs focused on the needs, problems, and solutions of society. The Vice-Chancellor said that the community radio station will provide students with practical experience in program production, research-based content, and dialogue on social issues, enabling them to develop as responsible communicators.

At the event, Dr. Sharanjit Kaur, former Chairperson of the RCI, said that community radio is a powerful medium for spreading awareness on topics such as education, health, women's empowerment, and social harmony.

HOD Prof. Gulab Singh delivered the welcome address. The program was conducted by Dr. Naveen Kumar, and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Benul Tomar. Professor Sunit Mukherjee and Adjunct Faculty Prof. Harish Kumar assisted in organizing the program.

Malik, Registrar Dr. Krishna Kant, DSW Prof. Sapna Garg, Proctor Prof. Randeep Rana, Director Public Relations Prof. Ashish Dahiya, CDS Director Prof. Pratima Devi, CCPC Director Prof. Divya Malhan, Director Youth Welfare Dr. Pratap Rathi, along with university teachers, staff, students, and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
