Ludhiana, November 19, 2015: Very soon, the city residents would be able to pay their water supply and sewerage bills with the click of a mouse and in a hassle free manner. Meetings in this regard are already underway and MC is in talks with different banks such as HDFC, SBI and others.

"When this project starts working, it would be like a new year gift for the city residents by the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation because people would be able to pay their water supply and sewerage bills online on MC website, www.mcludhiana.gov.in, in a hassle free manner," MC Additional Commissioner Mr Ghanshyam Thori informed in a press release issued, here today.

At present, only property tax can be paid online through the MC official website, www.mcludhiana.gov.in. But within next one month';s time, residents will also be able to pay their water supply and sewerage bills online on the same website, i.e. www.mcludhiana.gov.in.

Mr Ghanshyam Thori informed that the Ludhiana MC collects around Rs 36 crore in revenue from water supply and sewerage bills. He said that at present, these bills can be deposited only in the MC offices for which people have to visit there.

"When we start the online payment of water supply and sewerage bills, we expect that the Ludhiana MC revenue would certainly increase, which means more funds would be available for the development of the city," informed Mr Thori.

Representatives of IT team of HDFC Bank and State Bank of India have already met Mr Thori. He informed that on Monday, a formal meeting with HDFC Bank officials would be held besides representatives from SBI would be submitting their written proposal in this regard. Mr Ghanshyam Thori has urged other banks also to submit their written proposals in case they are interested for this project.

He further informed that the work regarding this project is going on in full throttle and it would be launched in next one month';s time.
