CM mourns sad demise of Justice DS Dhaliwal

Chandigarh, March 7, 2015: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of former Lokpal of Punjab, Justice (retd.) DS Dhaliwal. He was 78 and breathed his last at here his residence on Friday evening after a prolonged illnes. Justice Dhaliwal survived by his wife, son and two daughters.

In a condolence message, Badal described Justice Dhaliwal as a legal luminary and eminent jurist besides an able administrator with the rare qualities of head and heart. He recalled the distinguished services rendered by Justice Dhaliwal during his tenure as Lokpal Punjab.

Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family, relatives and friends to bear this huge loss in this hour of grief.

Meanwhile, Former Lokpal Justice (retd.) DS Dhaliwal was cremated with full state honours here at local crematorium this afternoon.

Justice TS Dhindsa, Judge Punjab & Haryana High Court laid wreath on the body of Justice Dhaliwal on behalf of the Chief Justice, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Punjab Lokpal Justice (retd.) JS Sekhon on behalf the Office of Lokpal and Secretary Lokpal Punjab Deepinder Singh on the behalf of the state government.  

On this occasion, several retired and serving judges, senior bureaucrats and police officers from Punjab government and UT Administration of Chandigarh also paid their last respect to Justice Dhaliwal.
