MCL invites private players for outsourcing of operation and maintenance of Pakhowal Road Indoor Stadium

Ludhiana, September 28, 2016: With an aim to outsource the operation and maintenance of the newly constructed Indoor Stadium at Pakhowal Road the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana has invited expression of interest from the private players. The private companies who are interested in handling the operation and maintenance of this stadium can give presentation of their proposal to the MC Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on October 10.

The fully air conditioned Indoor Stadium is near completion and it has 1000 square meters gaming area with a seating capacity of 4000 people. It has a gymnasium developed in 1500 square meters area. It also has coach lounges and changing rooms. At one time around 250 vehicles can be parked in the stadium.

The stadium has 74 commercial shops along with 25000 square feet club area. There is also a provision of restaurant and food court area (75000 square feet), library (3000 square feet) and a function hall (3000 square feet) etc.

The MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said, "We have floated expression of interest. Once proposals of interested parties are received we will prepare tender and put up for F&CC approval."

Notably, the construction of this stadium was started way back in 2004. Total cost of second phase is Rs 40.65 crores while in the first phase only civil work was done at the cost of Rs 25 crores.
