Mathematics is the Key to every aspect of life; Science City Celebrates the Mathematics Day
Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated “National Mathematics Day” to mark the birth anniversary of the great Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan by organizing hands on activities session on Mathematics and visit to Mathematics gallery. The main goal of the programme was to develop curiosity and interest among young students and to motivate them to take up careers in Mathematics. The theme for celebration was "Mathematics Art and Creativity." . About 100 students from different schools of Punjab participated in the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City, said that Mathematics is the key to every aspect of life and scientific studies and research work cannot be completed without mathematics. Further, some students develop math phobia as they face difficulties in understanding mathematics through textbooks alone. Hence, nurturing mathematical skills through informal and interactive methods among the masses, especially school students is the need of the hour.
Kirandeep Singh, Educationist and National & State Awardee was the expert speaker on this occasion. During the session, he demonstrated how various concepts of Mathematics can be easily understood using working models, math kits, games, and paper-based activities. Through these activities, concepts related to shapes, formulas, and trigonometry were covered in a very entertaining and interactive manner. He urged students to focus on strong basics, emphasizing that a clear understanding of fundamentals helps in grasping advanced concepts effectively. The students showed keen interest in the session and learned useful basics and tricks to solve mathematical problems.
