HIRD Director Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan encourages students to adopt a spirit of dedication to their motherland

Indri, March 9, 2026: The My Bharat Portal is an effective platform connecting youth to the country's developmental activities, government schemes, and various opportunities. Through this platform, youth can develop their personalities by participating in volunteerism, skill development, training programs, and social activities. This was shared by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing the NSS volunteers on the fourth day of the seven-day NSS special camp held at Shaheed Udham Singh Government College, Matak Majri (Indri).

Principal Dr. Mahendra Singh Bagi welcomed Dr. Chauhan with a bouquet of flowers.

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan encouraged students to register on the My Bharat Portal in large numbers and play an active role in nation-building.

He encouraged students to adopt a spirit of dedication to their motherland, saying that nothing is more precious than the soil of our country. Citing the example of Lord Rama, he said that even after conquering Lanka, he preferred to return to his homeland, Ayodhya, rather than stay in the golden Lanka, because respecting and connecting with the motherland is greater than the pleasures of heaven.

Highlighting the importance of the National Service Scheme, Dr. Chauhan said that it is a powerful medium for serving the nation. The NSS develops a sense of service, discipline, leadership, and social responsibility among youth, enabling them to play an active role in the development of society and the nation.

Principal Dr. Mahendra Singh Bagi said that the My Bharat portal is a platform that provides youth with new direction, providing opportunities for social service and leadership development.

NSS Program Officer Prof. Kuldeep informed the volunteers about the upcoming camp activities. In the afternoon session, Dr. S.B. Bhardwaj addressed as the keynote speaker in a special lecture on the skills required for a successful career in the digital world. Dr. Bal Rishi expressed his gratitude. The stage was moderated by volunteers Rupakshi and Mehak.

Afterward, the volunteers presented a street play on the theme "Greenery All Around," conveying a powerful message about the importance of environmental protection, tree planting, and a clean environment. College Council members Dr. Surendra Singh, Dr. Rajkumar, Dr. Ranveer Singh, Dr. Anita, Dr. Meenakshi, and Dr. Pradeep, along with NSS volunteers, were present on the occasion.
