Rohtak, March 9, 2026: Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, will now host the Haryana Film Festival every year. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced this in the state budget. According to the budget provision, the State's Department of Arts and Culture will assist in organizing the film festival.

In the budget presented by CM Naib Singh Saini as Finance Minister in the Assembly for the year 2026-27, the announcement of the film festival was made under point number 131 on page number 71. It states that the Haryana Film Festival will be organized every year in collaboration with SUPVA, Rohtak. It is noteworthy that this provision for organizing a film festival has been made for the first time in the state. Until now, no film festival of any kind has been organized at the government level in Haryana. This provision in the budget clearly demonstrates the state government's commitment to elevate the state's art and culture to new heights.

Vice Chancellor of DLC SUPVA, Dr. Amit Arya, said that this decision will provide a new platform for regional cinema, independent filmmakers, student creators, and documentary filmmakers.

He explained that the Chief Minister announced this provision under the Arts and Culture fund. Currently, Haryana's artists, songs, music, albums etc. are making a mark across the country. Many talented artists have already secured opportunities in Bollywood films. He said that DLC SUPVA is the first university of its kind in the country, offering various degree courses in acting, direction, cinematography, editing, and audiography. After completing their studies, the students are proving their mettle in the film industry both at national and international level. VC Dr. Arya said that short films and documentaries prepared by SUPVA students are being screened at film festivals across the country and the world, and are also winning numerous awards.

Vice Chancellor Dr Amit Arya said that the announcement of organising Haryana Film Festival in SUPVA in the budget is a very commendable step of the state government, which will not only preserve the art and culture of the state, but will also provide a different kind of exposure to the students of SUPVA. They will be able to take a closer look at the film world in their campus.
