Major Research Projects for GNDU Faculty

Amritsar, January 29, 2015:  The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi has granted Major Research Project of Rs.30 Lacs to Prof.Avinash Kaur Nagpal of the Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences of the Guru Nanak Dev University. This project will be jointly collaborating with Dr. Balwinder Singh, Biotechnology Department, Khalsa College and Dr.Vipin Halan from Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, Palampur to work on the project entitled “Indexing and management of viruses and viroids infecting tomato crop in Punjab and neighboring states”.

Satwinderjeet Kaur, Head of the department said that this project would be of great help for tomato growers of Punjab as it has the objective of not only indexing different kinds of virus and viroids prevalent in the region but also develop protocols for production of virus/viroid free tomato plant using tissue culture techniques.

Meanwhile,  Gurpreet Kaur, Head, Music has been sanctioned a Major Research Project funded by UGC of Rs.12,39,800 for period of three years. The title of the project is “Padam Bhushan  Sardar Anjum Ki Rachnayon Ka Sangeetak Vishleshan (Gazal Ke Vishesh Sandarbh Mein”. / (SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
