Major Boost for the Department of Pediatrics at PGIMS; VC Dr. H.K. Agarwal Inaugurates 80-Seat Capacity PG Demonstration Room

Rohtak, April 15, 2026: Dr. H.K. Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, formally inaugurated the newly constructed Post-Graduate Demonstration Room within the Department of Pediatrics at PGIMS. The commissioning of this state-of-the-art hall is set to provide a new direction to the department's academic and research activities.

Chieg Guest, VC Dr. H.K. Agarwal said that the university administration's objective is to position PGIMS among the country's leading medical institutions—a goal for which the infrastructure is being continuously upgraded. Every year, thousands of children suffering from serious ailments visit the Department of Pediatrics for treatment. Consequently, it is imperative that the pediatricians trained here emerge as fully competent professionals—both clinically and academically. This new demonstration room represents a significant step in that very direction.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Agarwal emphasized that superior teaching facilities are directly linked to patient care. When resident doctors are provided with adequate space and resources for case discussions and demonstrations, they gain a better understanding of complex diseases; ultimately, the patients benefit from this enhanced expertise during their treatment.

Registrar Dr. Roop Singh affirmed that the university administration is committed to promoting research alongside education. He noted that this demonstration hall will enable PG students to present their thesis work, receive direct feedback from faculty members, and engage in discussions regarding multi-centric research projects. Dr. Savita Singhal, Dean of Student Welfare, remarked that the completion of this hall has generated considerable enthusiasm among the physicians and resident doctors within the Department of Pediatrics.

Medical Superintendent and Head of the Department, Dr. Kundan Mittal, informed that approximately 45 resident doctors and 12 senior resident doctors are currently undergoing training within the Department of Pediatrics. Until now, the department possessed only a single demonstration room with a seating capacity of 30, which posed significant difficulties in organizing clinical case presentations, seminars, thesis discussions, and workshops. This new demonstration hall, with a seating capacity of 80, is the result of the guidance—and the budget provided—by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Health Minister Aarti Rao, ACS (MER), and Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Agarwal. This facility will not only enhance the quality of teaching but also facilitate smoother discussions on research protocols and data presentations.

Present on the occasion were senior physicians, faculty members, and a large number of PG resident doctors, including Dr. N.D. Vaswani, Dr. Alka, Dr. Vandana, and Dr. Alok.
