Jalandhar, February 28, 2026: This year's tableau of Punjab at the Republic Day Parade was dedicated to Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, marking a historic milestone for Lyallpur Khalsa College as 11 NSS volunteers participated in this prestigious national event. Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu appreciated the sincere efforts of the volunteers, who walked 8 km barefoot on 26th January at Kartavya Path as a tribute to Hind Di Chadar, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, and three Sikh martyrs—Bhai Sati Das, Bhai Mati Das Ji, and Bhai Dyala Ji. He added that the event was live telecast in over 100 countries and described it as the biggest platform for students to represent their state at the national level.
The Guest of Honour, international hockey player S. Jagdeep Singh Gill, praised the participants, stating that these NSS volunteers have performed exceptionally and would inspire future students. NSS Chief Program Officer, Prof. Satpal Singh, explained that the students were selected after rigorous scrutiny at both state and national levels. He also highlighted that the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, bore all the expenses for their participation. Prof. Singh appealed to the Punjab Government to honor these students for representing the state on such a prominent national stage.
The participating students included Jaskaran Singh (Team Leader), Gurwinder Kaur, Sadiya, Sukhpreet Kaur, Anjali, Kamaljeet Singh, Jaskaran Gadhra, Gurjap Singh, and Abhijeet Singh, who represented the Punjab tableau, while Aakriti and Muskan participated in the West Bengal tableau. During the felicitation ceremony, heads and deans of various departments were also present to honor the students’ remarkable achievement.
