Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar assures all possible help for International Conference
Recently, renowned Kabaddi promoter Ajaib Singh Chatha visited the premises of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, one of the leading educational institutions of North India. He was warmly welcomed by the Principal of the college, Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu.
Jalandhar, January 22, 2026: Recently, renowned Kabaddi promoter Ajaib Singh Chatha visited the premises of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, one of the leading educational institutions of North India. He was warmly welcomed by the Principal of the college, Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu.
During the interaction, while discussing Kabaddi—the mother game of Punjabis—Ajaib Singh Chatha highlighted the historic contribution of the former President of the Lyallpur Khalsa College Governing Council, Late Balbir Singh. He said that Balbir Singh played a primary and pivotal role in taking the game of Kabaddi to the international level. Deeply attached to the sport, Balbir Singh aspired to see Kabaddi gain its rightful recognition on the global stage.
Recalling the old days, Chatha noted that while Balbir Singh was committed to placing Punjab at the forefront in academics, he was equally devoted to connecting young students with Punjabi culture and sports. He further announced plans to organise an international Kabaddi conference in collaboration with Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University and Jagat Punjabi Sabha to promote Kabaddi internationally. He added that the legacy left by Balbir Singh continues to serve as an inspiration and guiding force for today’s youth.
On the occasion, the President of the College Governing Council, Balbir Kaur, stated that Lyallpur Khalsa College has always remained committed to the preservation and promotion of Punjabi culture and will continue to do so in the future.
Principal Dr. Rashpal Singh Sandhu remarked that as long as the mother tongue and the mother game remain alive, Punjab, Punjabi identity and Punjabiyat will continue to thrive. He added that this unique international conference would set a new tradition and lauded Ajaib Singh Chatha for his initiative.
He also informed that two faculty members of the college, Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon and Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra, will participate in the conference and present their research papers. The college, he assured, would extend all possible support for the successful organisation of the conference.
Heads of various departments, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
