Lyallpur Khalsa College Celebrates Eco-Friendly ‘Green Diwali’

The event focused on decorating earthen pots and creating decorative items from waste materials, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and eco-conscious celebrations.

Jalandhar, October 18, 2025: The Department of Physiotherapy at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, celebrated Green Diwali with the aim of promoting environmental awareness and creativity among students. The event focused on decorating earthen pots and creating decorative items from waste materials, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and eco-conscious celebrations.

Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur inaugurated the event and encouraged everyone to be more mindful of environmental issues. She expressed concern over increasing pollution levels and highlighted how the use of firecrackers worsens the situation. She appealed to students to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly manner and make the earth a better place for future generations.

Students showcased great enthusiasm by beautifully decorating corridors with earthen pots. In the Earthen Pot Decoration competition, Harshita and Ruchika (Group 7, BPT) secured the first position, followed by Sarbjit and Mankiran (Group 6) in second place, and Gurpreet and Akanksha (Group 4) in third.

In the Decoration from Waste category, Kajal, Simran, and Avreen (Group 3) won first place, while Sanjana, Suneha, and Shagun (Group 4) bagged second, and Heman, Muskan, Trishan, and Gurleen (Group 2) secured third position.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Jaswant Kaur, Dr. Priyank Sharda, Dr. Vishali Mohindru, Dr. Anjali Ohja, and Dr. Alisha Kamboj, who appreciated the students’ creativity and their commitment to an eco-friendly Diwali.
