Ludhiana lad tops NTSE  in Punjab

Ludhiana, February 20, 2016: Tarush Goyal of local Sat Paul Mittal School has topped this year’s National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Stage-I. He was trained for NTSE at STEPS, an institute in Ludhiana which specialises in NTSE and Olympiad Training.
Four other STEPS trainees, Gurasees of DAV BRS Nagar, Sushant Sodhi of Ryan International School, Vikrant Gupta and Jaskaran Kalra has bagged the 6th, 7th and eight highest scores in the State.
These students would participate in the second level of exam to be conducted on May 8, 2016.
It may be noted that NTSE is a flagship program of Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) for the students studying in Class X. The program is meant to identify and nurture talent pan-India.
According to Mrs Gurpreet Wadhera, General Manager, STEPS, “NTSE is one of the toughest and the most prestigious exams in India at this level. Most of them started their preparations early on, some from class VI onwards. They have to develop superior reasoning skills and problem-solving ability in addition to a sound grasp of the concepts of classes IX & X to crack this exam.”
The examination is conducted every year at two levels: Stage-I (State Level) and Stage-II (National Level) . About 1000 scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follows:
(a) Scholarship of Rs.1250 per month for Class-XI to XII.
(b) Scholarship of Rs.2000 per month for Undergraduates and Post-graduates.
(c)Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.
