LPU’s 2025: The Year of EduRevolution, Research Dominance, Global Impact and Record Placements

Jalandhar, December 29, 2025: Lovely Professional University (LPU) marked 2025 as a defining chapter in its journey, a year where academic ambition translated into visible impact across research, global engagement, rankings, placements, sports, and creative excellence. Anchoring this momentum was the launch of EduRevolution, a revolutionary initiative that reimagined learning at LPU by moving beyond conventional content delivery to knowledge creation, critical inquiry, and real world application. By placing students at the centre of learning and empowering them as contributors rather than consumers of knowledge, EduRevolution became the defining force that shaped LPU’s achievements throughout the year.
Rankings - LPU continued its upward global trajectory with strong performances across leading national and international ranking platforms. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, LPU secured the 5th position among universities in India and was placed in the 501–600 global band while ranked 48th globally and 2nd in India in prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) IMPACT Rankings 2025. In the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, the university achieved 14th position in India and ranked 544th globally. Reflecting its innovation-driven academic ecosystem, LPU ranked 4th in India and 109th worldwide in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025. At the national level, LPU secured the 31st rank in the NIRF India Rankings 2025 among all government and private institutions. These outcomes build on LPU’s NAAC A++ accreditation (3.68/4), alongside NBA, ICAR, and UGC recognitions, reinforcing its position as a globally aligned, quality-driven institution.
Research Excellence - LPU’s research ecosystem reached new heights in 2025, recording 27,851 research publications, 296,359 citations, and an H-index of 183, supported by 550+ national and international collaborations. The university’s innovation-driven culture was reflected in 10,000+ intellectual property filings to date. According to the Intellectual Property India Annual Report released by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Government of India, LPU emerged as the highest patent-filing academic institution in India filing 1,418 patents, surpassing IITs and NITs.
Internationalization - LPU advanced its global academic engagement through 500+ MoUs with global universities and organisations. In the academic year 2025, the university further expanded this network with 80+ new MoUs, along with 10+ articulation agreements, and secured 60+ exchange seats. During the year, LPU hosted international students through Summer and Winter Schools and exchange programmes, and added 60+ new adjunct professors, strengthening academic and research engagement. Global academic dialogue was further strengthened through flagship platforms such as Global Week 2025, which hosted 60+ expert sessions by 30 faculty members from 18 countries across 15+ schools, and AICGS 2025, drawing 60+ international delegates, formalising eight new collaborations, and engaging 25+ universities from 15 countries.
Sports Excellence - LPU continued to assert its dominance as a national sporting powerhouse, delivering a year defined by historic milestones and elite performance. LPU student Prashant Veer created IPL history by becoming the most expensive uncapped player, signing with Chennai Super Kings for ₹14.20 crore. At the Khelo India University Games 2025, LPU secured the 1st Runner-Up position for the third consecutive year, leading the nation with a record 78 medals. Further strengthening this success, LPU alumnus and Indian Hockey Team Captain Harmanpreet Singh received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, while students Sukhjeet Singh and Jarmanpreet Singh were conferred the Arjuna Award at Rashtrapati Bhawan. On the global stage, 13 LPU students were selected to represent India at the FISU World University Games 2025 in Germany. Team achievements included winning the All India Inter-University Baseball Championship 2025 and the LPU Women’s Kabaddi Team securing its first-ever North Zone Inter-University gold.
Influential visits - LPU’s campus resonated with ideas, leadership, and inspiration as it welcomed a distinguished constellation of voices in 2025. From Sonu Sood and ISRO Chairman Shri S. Somanath to former Union Minister Mrs. Smriti Irani, educationist Khan Sir, and spiritual leader Smt. Jaya Kishori, the university became a space for dialogue across disciplines. Entrepreneur Vineeta Singh, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani, author Amish Tripathi, National Convener Shri Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann further enriched these engagements, offering students rare insights into innovation, governance, service, and nation-building.
Creative & Innovation Excellence – LPU had a strong year of creative and innovation-led achievements, marked by winning the Overall Championship at the Punjab State Youth Festival 2025. This success was followed by winning the First Runner-up trophy at the 38th AIU Inter-University National Youth Festival and securing a historic victory at the 3rd AIU National Women’s Student Parliament 2024–25. Interdisciplinary excellence was further demonstrated through 13 top prizes at IIT Mandi’s National Tech Fest, while the Kansyari team’s Smart India Hackathon victory marked a rare achievement for architecture students in an engineering-dominated competition. At the national level, 14 students represented the university at the 76th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, and Jahnavi Dangeti made history as a TSI Astronaut Candidate set to travel to space in 2029. Innovation outcomes were strengthened through collaboration with HQ 11 Indian Army and recognition at the IN-SPACe Model Rocketry & CANSAT India Student Competition 2025.
