LPU School of Fashion Design organised its annual Graduating Show-2015

Jalandhar, May 8, 2015: The School of Fashion Design of Lovely Professional University organized mega fashion show ‘Ensemble’ at its Annual Graduating Show-2015, today. Near 30 Models, who were again LPU students, showcased 11 collections of 150 designs prepared by fashion program students of LPU. These designs were created by 50+ final semester student-designers of M.Sc & B.Sc Fashion Design program.  Bollywood Celebrity Designer Farah Sanjana from team of Hi-Design (Mumbai) led the fashion show. Famous Wills & Lakme Fashion Weeks’ Choreographer & Bollywood actor Anil Chowdhary choreographed the show. Lovely Group Chairman Ramesh Mittal, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal and Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal also witnessed the event.

Through this show LPU intends to provide practical training so that students are ready for the career in the world of fashion industry. The last round earned wide applaud from the onlookers as it presented Future Designer Students of the University, with the display of wears-the best of students' creations. To be eligible to be part of the show, all the designs had to be conceptualized, created and designed by students themselves. The eleven collections were named as Sultanat-e-Mamluk; Fire within; Fifth Gear; Casino Royale; The Chaste Maiden; Jewelled Fusion; Gothic Glam; Prisoners of war; A-PIPLI-QUE; Modi Fever; and, Art Tempelum.

The collection ‘Chaste Maiden’ created by M.Sc Fashion Design students Parminder, Ajita, Navneet & Harpreet was awarded as the “Best Design Collection”. “Most Creative Collection’ award was given to ‘FIRE WITHIN’ collection of B.Design (Fashion) students Pooja, Aman, Aarti and Gyanendra. ‘NAMO MODI’ collection by M.Sc Fashion Design students Meetika, Harmanpreet, Alpana & Karanjeet won “Most Commercially Viable Collection” award. Similarly, “Best Use of Traditional Skills” award was given to ‘ART TEMPLUM’ collection of M.Sc Fashion Design students Sancharan Sural, Shruti, Anupriya  and Pooja. Best Fabric Development’ award was given to collection ‘PRISONERS OF WAR’ created by B.Design (Fashion) students Krishna, Swinky and Vikash. M.Sc Fashion Design students Ridhya, Rajveer, Preeti, Alka and Senur who designed Jewelled Fusion won ‘Most in Trend Collection’ award. The seventh award for Best Pattern & Construction was bestowed on the B.Design (Fashion) team of Alamgeet, Piketo and Rohit  for their collection ‘Fifth Gear’.

Congratulating the award winning teams and inspiring other emerging new generation of fashion designers, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal shared: “We all at the university take pride in seeing innovation & multi-designing approach among our students.  In fact, students are taught everything at LPU which they need to know for creating a winning career in the world of fashion. Students’ placement with top fashion industry Tommy Hilfiger, Madame, Madura Fashions and more supports our claim.” Illustrative, the annual graduating show is a rare opportunity that showcases the creative work of young students from the graduation and post-graduation programs in Fashion Design.

Special Note: Collection ‘Sultanat-e-Mamluk’ was inspired from the Mamluk slaves of Medieval Egypt and was created with shades of black-browns in fineness of medieval craft. ‘Fifth gear’ depicted safety on road with designs of road signs and bikers clothing including biker jackets, ribbed cardigans and helmets as props. ‘Chaste maiden’ followed traditional dance of Bali by using rich silks for wrap skirts to corsets designed in bright colours with gold beads. Revealing distinct identity ‘Gothic Glam’ collection displayed creative fabrics and innovative shapes. ‘A-pipli-que’ was inspired from appliqué work from village Pipli of Odisha with fabric development and surface ornamentation. India’s rich stone carving traditions, especially on the southern temple walls, found reflection in the collection ‘Art Templum’. ‘Fire within’ collection got inspiration from ‘fire’. ‘Casino Royale’ was inspired from the game of poker and casino culture and displayed digitally printed fabrics including waistcoats and Jackets. Meenakari jewellery of Rajasthan inspired ‘Jewelled Fusion’ collection. The laser cut fabrics and fine chain stitch embroidery are used to enrich the designs. The complete fabric development of the collection is done by hand and each garment piece is individually rendered. And, ‘Modi Fever’ was inspired from the charismatic personality of PM Modi and featured the famous campaign of ‘Namo Modi’ through prints and fabric surfaces.
