LPU organized AIU’s Inter-University National Seminar

· Students from different states including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, J&K, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and more participated enthusiastically · Occasion was AIU's national seminar held on the topic ‘Higher Education in the era of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Disruptive Technology with a focus on Human Values in the age of Disruption’, at LPU campus Jalandhar, August 27, 2018: Lovely Professional University (LPU) organized Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) Inter-University National Seminar at the university campus. Students from different Indian states including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, J&K, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and more participated passionately. LPU team lifted 2nd Runner-Up trophy of the competition; MMDU Mullana (Ambala) 1st Runner-Up; and, PU Chandigarh grabbed the Over-All Trophy. Topic of the seminar was ‘Higher Education in the Era of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Disruptive Technology with a Focus on Human Values in the Age of Disruption’. Addressing participating students and appreciating the comprehensive topic of the seminar based on 4 different aspects (Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Disruptive Technology and Human Values), LPU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ramesh Kanwar expressed that such seminars can make students learn from each other for future growth. In poetic tone, AIU Joint Secretary Dr Sampson David made all understand that with the passage of time power of tolerance increases and even many a disruptions seem novel and meaningful to us. LPU Executive Dean Dr Sanjay Modi advised students to carry on exploration and self-study by sustaining human values. Commencing the technical sessions of the seminar, LPU team of Aviral Diwedi & M B Vishnu illustrated their thoughts by taking the examples from ancient scriptures and put forward to have universal human values in diverse organizations. For them, a person with 100% marks in studies & career is nothing if stands devoid of human values. IKG Punjab Technical University students’ team of Geerish & Ayushi asked all to pose a question to self whether being truly professional, they are perfectly civilized also. Both of them upheld that ‘keeping human values in mind be a disruptor, not disruptive’. Ananya and Shubham of MMDU Mullana stressed all to ‘be the person of values and vision first and of success later on’. Similarly, from PU Chandigarh team, Sheenam forwarded to keep education potentially ‘higher’ than its utility or market value; whereas, her team member Khushdev said that science teaches how to build things, and human values guide what to build and why to build. As the topic was wide-ranging in nature and thought processes, the judges to evaluate students’ talent were purposely appointed from diverse sectors. Three Deputy Directors at LPU, Ankur Sodhi (Department of Training & Placement), Manish Saini (Division of Start-Up School), Varinder Singh (Centre for Professional Enhancement) not only judged the participants but also encouraged and appreciated them well for their pragmatic thoughts.
