Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day with great passion and enthusiasm at its campus. The event saw the participation of hundreds of NCC & NSS volunteers who freely promoted the benefits of yoga exercises for good health and a sound mind. Participants performed various 'asanas' with elaborations on their uses.

Since its inception in the United Nations’ General Assembly in 2014, the International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually across the world on June 21 since 2015. This physical, mental, and spiritual practice originated in ancient India.

Rashmi Mittal, Pro Chancellor of LPU, congratulated all health-conscious individuals at the University for observing the day. She emphasized that this day has brought a restless world together, and has left a permanent mark on all global citizens.

The resource person for “Yoga” at LPU was Dr Meenakshi Gupta, MD (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), a renowned “life strategist, internationally certified yoga teacher, youth expert, and mind & meditation trainer.” Dr Gupta is also training youth across the state of Punjab and UT Chandigarh to perform better in their careers and lives. She serves ladies for good health and happiness, moving across rural areas of India. Dr Gupta was coordinated by LPU’s Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal, the Head of the Division of Student Welfare.

This year, the theme celebrated for International Yoga Day 2023 was 'Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,' effectively capturing the collective aspiration for "one earth, one family, and one future."
