Local bodies department hands over recruitment letters to 249 recruits
Chandigarh, November 24, 2014: Crippling with the problem of staff crunch the Local bodies department today handed over appointment letter to 249 candidates recently recruited in the department on various ranks.
Disclosing this here today, Anil Kumar Joshi, Minister for Local Bodies, Punjab said that among the candidates who were given the job letter included 17 SDOs, 123 JEs, 36 Sanitary Inspectors, 33 Accountants and 36 Draftsman/ Head Draftsman. He said that with the recruitment of this staff the working of the department would be streamlined and service delivery system would become effective. He said that double entry system in accountancy has very crucial these days and most of the grants from GoI are maintained by this system. He expressed satisfaction that with the appointment of Accountants the double entry system would be implemented more efficiently with precision.
The minister further said that the appointment letters to 4 Law Officers and 15 Chief Sanitary Officers would be handed over in due course of time as their case is sub-judice. “All these appointments have been made purely on merits based on the written test conducted by departmental recruitment committees “he added. Joshi also issued instructions for the senior officers that the promotion related cases of the employees must be dealt with expeditiously by holding the meetings DPC.
He said that recently the department has promoted 8 JEs as JMEs and other Inspectors have also been promoted to the post of Superintendent Grade-2. The Local Bodies’ Minister asked the officers to consider the cases of job on companionate grounds to the deceased employees on priority.
