Lecture on Oncology Awareness and Rehabilitation at BMU on World Health Day

On the occasion of World Health Day, the Physio Care Club—an initiative of the Department of Physiotherapy at Baba Mastnath University (BMU), Asthal Bohar—organized a lecture on the theme "Bridging the Gap between Oncology Awareness and Rehabilitation." The primary objective of the event was to raise awareness regarding cancer among students, faculty members, and professionals within the healthcare sector, as well as to underscore the importance of proper rehabilitation for patients following their treatment.

Rohtak, April 7, 2026: On the occasion of World Health Day, the Physio Care Club—an initiative of the Department of Physiotherapy at Baba Mastnath University (BMU), Asthal Bohar—organized a lecture on the theme "Bridging the Gap between Oncology Awareness and Rehabilitation." The primary objective of the event was to raise awareness regarding cancer among students, faculty members, and professionals within the healthcare sector, as well as to underscore the importance of proper rehabilitation for patients following their treatment.

Dr. Suhas Kirti Singla, a renowned cancer specialist and hemato-oncologist, attended the event as the keynote speaker. Gastroenterology specialist Dr. Charu Gupta was also present as a special guest. The program was presided over by Dr. Charu Sharma, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, while the proceedings and coordination of the event were managed by Dr. Suman Rani.

Emphasizing the critical need to foster greater societal awareness regarding a grave disease like cancer, Dr. Suhas Kirti Singla said that with timely screening (early detection) and appropriate medical intervention, cancer can be controlled to a significant extent. He elucidated that the impact of cancer extends beyond the physical realm, profoundly affecting a patient's mental and social well-being; therefore, it is imperative to place special emphasis on patient rehabilitation alongside medical treatment.

Highlighting the pivotal role of physiotherapy, he noted that it plays a crucial part in enhancing the physical capacity, mobility, and overall quality of life for patients undergoing post-cancer recovery. He further stressed that the coordinated efforts of nursing staff and other allied health services are indispensable for ensuring the holistic recovery of the patient.

During the session, the keynote speaker addressed various queries raised by the students, providing clear and practical explanations supported by real-world examples. Other dignitaries and faculty members present at the event included Dr. Jyoti, Dr. Preeti Lathwal, Dr. Neha Khare, Dr. Sakshi, Dr. Pradeep, Vaishali, and Dr. Pinky, among others.
