Jalandhar, August 5, 2026: The PG Department of Commerce and Management, PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized an informative Guest Lecture on "Income Tax Fundamentals and Career Opportunities in Chartered Accountancy".
The programme was organized for the students of B.Com and B.Com Financial Services. The resource person for the session was CA Bhanu, a distinguished Chartered Accountant, who shared her practical knowledge and professional experience with the students. She was warmly welcomed by Shikha Puri, Dean, Commerce Club.
The session commenced with an introduction to the basic concepts of Income Tax, enabling students to understand the importance of taxation in the Indian economy. She explained the meaning of income tax, the categories of taxpayers, and the significance of tax compliance in a simple and interactive manner. She further elaborated on the Five Heads of Income—Income from Salary, Income from House Property, Profits and Gains from Business or Profession, Capital Gains, and Income from Other Sources—with relevant examples to strengthen students' conceptual understanding. The session proved to be highly informative and enriched the students’ understanding of both taxation and career prospects in the field of commerce.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Rajni Kapoor, Head, PG Department of Commerce and Management, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the speaker for her valuable insights and for inspiring the students through an informative and motivating session.
