KMV's faculty member bags Prestigious National IAPT Dinbandhu Sahu Memorial Award for Physics Teaching

Jalandhar, October 12, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Dr. Surbhi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics has been conferred with the IAPT Dinbandhu Sahu Memorial Award (DSMA) 2025, a prestigious national-level honor bestowed by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).
The award was presented during the 39th Annual National Convention of IAPT at the School of Physical and Applied Sciences, Goa University, and organized by IAPT RC-21, Goa.
The IAPT DSMA Award recognizes exceptional contributions to Undergraduate Physics Teaching in UGC-recognized institutions across India. Dr. Surbhi was selected from among educators nationwide, acknowledging her exemplary commitment, innovative pedagogical approach, and significant impact on physics education at the undergraduate level. The award includes a cash prize of ₹25,000/- along with a formal citation.
It was presented by Prof. P.K. Ahluwalia, President of IAPT, in the presence of distinguished Physicist Prof. H.C. Verma, while the event was graced by Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Minister for Water Resources, Government of Goa, as the Chief Guest.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her immense pride and joy on Dr. Surbhi’s national recognition. She also lauded her for bringing academic distinction to the institution and remarked, “Dr. Surbhi’s achievement is a testament to KMV’s unwavering commitment to excellence in higher education and faculty development. Her recognition at the national level will inspire many young educators to pursue teaching with passion and purpose.” She further maintained that this remarkable accomplishment not only brings honor to KMV but also strengthens its position as a leading institution fostering academic innovation and excellence in science education.
