Jalandhar, January 5, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) institution is an educational institution with the history of women education and empowerment since 1886. KMV, being an accredited Skill Centre, with an experience of running Vocational Courses since 2015, has been identified as a ‘Skill Hub’ by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. Throwing more light on it, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV is a front-runner in taking innovative initiatives and being always receptive to the Government’s initiatives aimed at bringing much-needed changes in the current educational landscape of our country. She further maintained that Skill Hub is an initiative of    Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) where school dropouts and out-of-education candidates will be trained for NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) complaint Vocational Courses. This necessitates the training of the students in line with the skill sets in demand and skilling, upskilling and reskilling of workforce due to everchanging demands of job market. The two job-roles identified in line with the local market demands and NSQF Compliant curriculum are Self-Employed Tailor and Assistant Beauty Therapist. She further maintained that KMV offers state of the art infrastructure with well-equipped classrooms and labs namely Sublime- The Art Studio, stitching workshop labs, electronic Zuki machines for stitching, printing and pattern making labs. The training will be provided by the well-qualified and experienced trainers in the field of beauty and textiles. It is important to mention KMV has been running DDU Kaushal Kendra, Skill Development Centre granted by Government of India since 2015 and various job-oriented vocational courses in multiple streams like Animation, Retail Management, Management & Secretarial Practices, Textile Design & Apparel Technology, Nutrition Exercise & Health, Beauty & Wellness, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science and Tourism & Hospitality are being run under the aegis of DDU Kaushal Kendra very successfully. Prof. Dwivedi also expressed her delight towards this achievement of KMV. She averred that the motto of Skill Hub will be to foster an entrepreneurial culture, by providing the students opportunities to transform their knowledge into employment and to promote skill based education in sync with the New Education Policy. She further maintained that renowned entrepreneurs, government officials and experts from different fields will also be invited to guide and motivate the students. Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Gopi Sharma, Director, DDU Kaushal Kendra & all the faculty members for this achievement.
