Rohtak, March 18, 2026: The Department of Agricultural Sciences at Baba Mastnath University (BMU), Rohtak organized a one-day training program on organic farming. The objective of the program was to familiarize students with sustainable agricultural practices—specifically the scientific principles and modern techniques associated with organic and natural farming.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.M. Yadav said that the agricultural sector is currently facing several serious challenges, chief among them being declining soil fertility, the increasing use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and environmental imbalance. He emphasized that the future belongs to sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural systems. Therefore, students of agriculture should not limit themselves solely to traditional knowledge but must also acquire an understanding of modern scientific techniques and organic farming methodologies.

Registrar Dr. Vinod Kumar remarked that agriculture is not merely a means of production; it serves as the very cornerstone of the nation's economy and society. He asserted that, in the contemporary context, the objective of agricultural education extends beyond simply teaching farming techniques; it aims to instill a scientific mindset in students, enabling them to develop eco-friendly and sustainable agricultural systems.

Agricultural expert Vipin Saini delivered his address as Chief Guest. He highlighted, in detail, the significance of organic and natural farming. Sharing insights drawn from his own experiences, he impressed upon the students that the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices is a pressing necessity in today's world. He further discussed the practical techniques involved in organic farming, its manifold benefits, and its future potential.

HOD Dr. Dilbag Singh, said that such training programs play a pivotal role in connecting students with modern and sustainable agricultural systems. Dr. Raveena Saini, Dr. Kriparam, Dr. Ankit Gill, and Dr. Vijyendra Deshwal also shared valuable information regarding various facets of organic and natural farming.
