KMV quiz competition highlights contributions of Mathematicians from Aryabhatta to Ramanujan

Jalandhar, August 22, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) PG Department of Mathematics organized a quiz competition with the thematic focus on “Contribution of Ancient Indian Mathematicians and Modern Mathematicians.” The objective of the event was to foster interest in Mathematics among students and highlight the pivotal contributions made by Indian and modern mathematicians to the field. More than 50 students from various undergraduate and postgraduate departments participated enthusiastically in teams. Questions ranged from the work of Aryabhatta, Brahmagupta, and Bhaskaracharya to contributions by Ramanujan, Euclid, Euler, and other modern mathematicians. The competition was a grand success, fulfilling its aim of celebrating the spirit of mathematics and acknowledging the invaluable contributions of both ancient Indian and modern mathematicians. 
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi encouraged students to delve deeper into mathematical history and theory beyond their curriculum. She lauded the efforts of Anand Prabha, Head, PG Department of Mathematics and the entire faculty for their efforts in successfully organizing the event, which underscored the significance of mathematics in everyday life.
