KMV organises online workshop on life skills

Jalandhar, March 14, 2022: In a new initiative, PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised an online Workshop on Life Skills for the students of B.Com Honours. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Manjit Singh from Dept. of Applied Management, Punjabi University, Patiala.

The objective of the workshop was to inculcate team spirit amongst students. Prof. Singh highlighted through an example of geese that sharing the same direction and working as a team gets us to our destination quicker and easier and enhances our accomplishments. According to him, team work is very important for success and if one is aware of the feelings of caring and sharing, life becomes easier. Regarding interpersonal relationships, he pointed out that getting to know each other means we should understand each other’s similarities and differences and ultimately, we learn to respect and adjust to these differences. He also made very shocking revelations about the youth of India. Although India ranks amongst one of the top nations in terms of young population, yet their employability percentage is very low and there is huge learning crisis in India.  The youth, though talented and creative, lacks the requisite training in life skills. He emphasised the importance of investment in life skills by citing the success story of Japan, which in spite of small size, adverse natural conditions and scarcity of natural resources has become one of the top developed countries of the world. The students gained a lot from this workshop and the resource person addressed the queries of students very aptly.

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended her gratitude towards the resource person for sharing such an important information with the students. She lauded the efforts of Dr Neeraj Maini, Head, PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration for successfully organising the workshop
