KMV marks celebration of Republic Day with flag hoisting ceremony

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar in continuum with the rich traditions of the yester years hoisted the National Flag to mark the celebration of Republic Day. The flag hoisting ceremony was performed by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. On the occasion the faculty, students and the hostel staff were present. The flag was hoisted to the chanting of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem. It was followed by a musical tribute in the form of patriotic songs, presented by the Department of Music. 

In her address to the students, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that this Republic Day celebration is dedicated to Gender justice and Equality. Prof. Dwivedi asked the girls to be strong and stand for gender equality and justice. She exhorted them to remember that many valiant and precious lives had been lost during the freedom struggle.  She asked them to protect the sanctity of the Constitution and  averred that every citizen should adhere to the directions given in the constitution in order to make India more prosperous and happy. She also aware the students about their Fundamental Rights and other rights granted to every citizen by our constitution & also maintained that along with their rights, the citizens should also remember their duties towards their nation. 

A fashion show was also organized on the occasion. The folk dances of different states representing the rich colorful & vibrant culture of the nation were presented on the occasion. It was a celebration dedicated to the freedom of our beloved motherland.
