KMV Inspires Students with Experiential Learning on National Space Day 2026

Jalandhar, September 3, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) P.G. Department of Physics, celebrated National Space Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and academic fervor. The celebration was organized to commemorate India’s remarkable achievements in space science and technology and to inspire students to develop a deeper interest in physics and its applications in everyday life and the universe. 
The celebration commenced with an Experimental Physics Hands-on Workshop designed to make physics more engaging, interactive, and accessible to students. Dr. Neetu Verma, Head, P.G. Department of Physics, conducted and demonstrated a series of innovative and fascinating physics experiments. The workshop aimed to transform students’ perception of physics from a subject they might fear into one that they could explore and enjoy through observation and experimentation. The students enthusiastically participated and enjoyed a variety of demonstrations, including “Feeling One Newton,” Centre of Mass, concave and convex mirrors, plasma globe, the tap-and-water experiment, birthday balloon inflation, and demonstrations illustrating the concept of pressure, among others. These simple yet intriguing experiments helped students connect theoretical concepts with real-life observations and enhanced their curiosity about the physical world. The academic celebration was further enriched by a physics-based skit presented by students of B.Sc. Non-Medical/Computer Science Semester V and M.Sc. FYIP Physics Semester III. Through humour, creativity, and scientific concepts, the students presented physics in an entertaining and meaningful manner. A Poster Making Competition was also organized on the theme of National Space Day. Students displayed their creativity, scientific understanding, and enthusiasm through colorful and informative posters highlighting various aspects of space science, astronomy, and India’s achievements in space exploration. The cultural segment continued with a musical presentation by students of M.Sc. FYIP Physics Semester I and M.Sc. Physics Semester III, who captivated the audience with their performances. Another highlight of the program was an insightful presentation by a student of M.Sc. FYIP Physics Semester V, who explained the theory and fascinating concepts associated with black holes. 
Addressing the gathering, Director Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi applauded the sincere efforts of students and faculty for organizing such an engaging and enriching program. She also encouraged the students to continue exploring science beyond textbooks and to cultivate a spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and innovation.
