KMV Faculty Members Nominated to Prestigious Society of Glass Technology

Two distinguished faculty members from the P.G. Department of Physics at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) — Dr. Gopi Sharma and Dr. Neetu Verma — have been nominated as Members of the Interim Governing Body (IGB) of the Society of Glass Technology – India Section (SGT-IS).

Jalandhar, October 26, 2025: Two distinguished faculty members from the P.G. Department of Physics at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) — Dr. Gopi Sharma and Dr. Neetu Verma — have been nominated as Members of the Interim Governing Body (IGB) of the Society of Glass Technology – India Section (SGT-IS).
The SGT-IS is being led by the CSIR–Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), Kolkata, in collaboration with the Society of Glass Technology, UK. The nomination of Dr. Verma and Dr. Sharma marks a recognition of their outstanding academic and research contributions in glass science, materials characterisation, and optical studies, as well as their dedication to promoting industry-oriented applied research.
The P.G. Department of Physics at KMV has consistently upheld excellence in both teaching and research. It has undertaken several pioneering projects in areas such as glass and ceramic materials, nanomaterials, thin films, and renewable energy applications, leading to publications in reputed international journals and collaborations with industries and national research bodies. The department’s sustained focus on sustainability-driven materials and solar energy technologies aligns closely with India’s national scientific and environmental goals.
