Jalandhar, April 7, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a seven-day NSS camp based on the themes ‘Youth for My Bharat’ and “Not Me But You”. The camp aims to provide volunteers with a platform to engage in constructive community service while developing leadership qualities. The first day commenced with an inaugural address by Director, Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, who acquainted NSS volunteers with national development goals, drug-free India initiatives, healthy communities, sustainability, environmental protection, social harmony, and youth empowerment. She emphasised the crucial role of youth in nation-building and motivated volunteers to actively participate in social causes.
The inaugural session concluded with a vibrant cultural programme where NSS volunteers showcased their talents and celebrated India’s cultural dynamism, reinforcing the vision of the week-long special NSS Camp. Alongside cultural activities, the camp includes tree plantation, cleanliness drives, and SVEEP activities. Volunteers are also participating in awareness initiatives promoting PNG and CNG adoption under the theme “Har Ghar PNG, Har Gaadi CNG”.
Group discussions on issues such as the “Waste-to-Energy Model” are being conducted in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, with a focus on waste segregation and sustainable practices. Dr. Ashima Sahni, NSS Programme Officer, along with Dr. Sonik Bhatia, Anand Prabha, Dr. Iqbal Singh, and Priyanka, discussed the schedule and activities planned for the week. The volunteers expressed strong enthusiasm and commitment to engaging with the community on these important topics, ensuring the camp achieves its objectives of social service, awareness, and youth empowerment.
