KMV Celebrates Sporting Excellence at Annual Athletics Meet Trailblazer-2K26
More than 500 athletes showcase their sports skills during the athletic meet
Jalandhar, February 26, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised the Annual Athletic Meet Trailblazer-2K26. At the outset, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Baljinder Singh Bal, Head, Department of Physical Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Meena Pawar, Incharge, Traffic Awareness Cell, Jalandhar & International weightlifter from Punjab Police, was the Guest of Honour. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal, was the Presiding Dignitary for the event. Dr. Satpal Gupta, Member, KMV Managing Committee, also graced the occasion.
After the unfurling of the KMV Sports Flag, it was time for the March Past by Volleyball, Handball, Softball, Kho Kho athletes, and the NCC squad of the college. Squad teams were led by players of national and international level, and the display of discipline and team spirit was spectacular. More than 500 athletes showcased their sports skills during the athletic meet.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated all the sportswomen who had made their mark in the field of sports with their diligence and skill. She averred that sports is a prestigious human activity since the dawn of human civilisation and we cannot imagine the world without sports. She also encouraged everyone to participate wholeheartedly in the events of the day.
The Chief Guest Prof. Bal, addressing the eagerly listening young sportspersons, said that the face of sports had seen a sea change in recent years as women had entered the arena of sports with aplomb in the 21st century. He said that KMV has been a torchbearer for women empowerment and education since its inception, as the institution has been producing brilliant women leaders in the field of education and sports. On this occasion, all the winners of the various events and the coaches of different games were honoured by the Chief Guest.
During the colourful progression of the day, various events in the categories for players and non-players took place, namely 100-metre & 200-metre race, Sack race, Needle and Thread race, Three-legged race, 400-metre race for non-players. The other events for the faculty included Tug of War (Male & Female Staff) & Musical Chair.
The winners for the various events were: In the non-players’ category of the 100-metre race, Sukhmanpreet secured first place, followed by Pushti in second and Renuka in third place. In the players’ category, Sanjana came first, Navdeep second, and Diksha third. In the hostel students category, Tashu came first, Manvir second, and Reena third.
In the three-legged race, non-players category, Jaspreet and Sewak secured first place, followed by Jhanvi and Nandani in second, and Rohini and Aarti in third. In the three-legged race hostel students category, Tashu and Lovepreet secured first place, followed by Reena and Garima in second, and Vishali and Arushi in third.
Additionally, in the 200-metre race non-players category, Sukhmanpreet secured first place, followed by Prachi in second, and Priyanjali in third. In the players’ category, Sanjana secured first place, Navdeep second, and Amanat third. Furthermore, in the 400-metre race organised for players, Sanjana secured first place, Amanat second, and Samriti third.
Additionally, in the 50-metre dash for female staff members in the junior category, Priya secured first place, Reenu second, and Alisha third, and in the senior category, Dr. Harpreet secured first place, Dr. Hardeep second, and Dr. Sabina third. It is worth mentioning that Sanjana was declared Best Athlete in the players’ category, Sukhmanpreet declared Best Athlete in the non-players’ category, and Tashu declared Best Athlete in the hostel students category.
Staff members who had participated and won in cricket & badminton matches were also honoured with medals and certificates. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Davinder and Ms. Amandeep for successfully organising the annual athletic meet.
