Khalsa College Dominates University Cultural Championship

Jalandhar: Continuing its excellent performance, Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar has bagged the First Runners-up position in Overall Cultural Trophy of Guru Nanak Dev University youth festival at Amritsar for the year 2016. The trophy was awarded to the College Principal Dr. G.S. Samra at Amritsar who along with college ECA Dean Dr. Rashpal Sandhu, senior teachers and the ecstatic ECA team received it from the Vice Chancellor Dr. A.S. Brar. On the concluding day the college won second positions in Folk Orchestra and Group Dance, thus amounting to a total of 6 first, 8 second and 8 third positions, forming a total score of 79 points. The college in all participated in 23 events out of which it won 22 positions.
The college won First positions in Mime, Vaar Singing, Western Vocal Solo, Geet/Gazal, Rangoli, Classical Inst. (Per.), second positions in Mimicry, Group Shabhad, Clay Modeling, Western Group Song, Folk Song, Elocution, Folk Orchestra, Group Dance and third positions in Bhangra, Poetical Symposium, Poster Making, Cartooning, Fancy Dress, Debate, Gidha, Classical Dance.
Speaking to the press, the College principal Dr. Samra said the college was already holding University Overall Sports championship and winning the overall Cultural trophy in high rank was a reflection of its excellence in all the arenas. He attributed the achievements to the efforts of the ECA team of the College. The president College Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur congratulated the College staff and students on the achievement.
