Jashan-2015 inaugurated at GNDU

Amritsar, March 13, 2015: The Inter-Departmental Cultural Competitions Jashan-2015of the Guru Nanak Dev University Campus has begun here on Thursday at the Dasmesh Auditorium with great enthusiasm. Student-artists of the various Departments of the University are participating in this four-day event which would be concluded on March 15.

Vice-Chancellor, Ajaib Singh Brar inaugurated these competitions by lighting the candles. Dr Bernhard Peter Jakob Blümich, Professor and Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry, RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany; Dr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar and Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director Youth Welfare were  present during the inaugural function.

A.S. Sidhu, Dean, Students Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others and Prof. Brar while inaugurating the JASHAN blessed the student-artists and appreciated their hard work and preparation that is on for the last few weeks.

During these four days, the student-artists from various department of the University would participate in 24 cultural competitions in the domains of Dance, Music, Fine Arts, Literary and Theater.

On the opening day, JASHAN started with the Kaawali, presentation by the students of Music Department. The students also presented classical dance, folk dance gazal and western group song in the inaugural session of JASHAN 2015. 

Competitions in the fields of  Shabad/Bhajan, Geet/Gazal, Western Vocal, Folk Song, Collage, Cartooning, Rangoli, Poster Making and On the Spot Photography were held today. 

Today the items of HIstronics, Notanki, Mime, Mimicry, Skit, Debate, Extempore and Quiz would be organised.

On March 14, the competitions of Bhangra, Creative Dance Western Dance and on the last day (March 15), Dance to Tune and Gidha competitions shall be organised. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
