Jalandhar, March 2, 2016: The Department of Economics organised an Inter-Departmental Debate Competition at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in which students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The competition tested the critical thinking and creativity of the students. The students confidently debated on various issues like-Role of Reservation in Modern India, Impact of Social Media, Social Networking Sites and Morality V/s Materialism. Debate was followed by discussion and cross-questioning.
Gaganpreet Kaur and Rashi Sekhri of M.Com. Sem. II bagged first position, Akanksha Lamba and Gopika Kapoor of B.Sc. (Eco) Sem. VI bagged second position. Vasu of B.Com. Sem. II was given certificate of appreciation. Jasleen and Vivek of B.Com. Sem. II were awarded as the best rebuttler.
Mrs. Supreet S.J. Talwar, Head, Department of Economic and Dr. Monika Arora, Head, Department of Commerce judged the Debate Competition.
Dr. Sucharita, Principal of the College congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of the department. She further added that such oratorical competitions go a long way in grooming the personality and enhancing the confidence of the students.
