The Department of Commerce, Business, Management and Economics at DAV University, in collaboration with the Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC), organized an insightful one-day session on “Entrepreneurial Opportunities in the BFSI Sector.” The session aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and career pathways in the financial services industry.

Insightful BFSI Session Ignites Entrepreneurial Spirit at DAV University

Jalandhar, April 20, 2026: The Department of Commerce, Business, Management and Economics at DAV University, in collaboration with the Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC), organized an insightful one-day session on “Entrepreneurial Opportunities in the BFSI Sector.” The session aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and career pathways in the financial services industry.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Gitika Nagrath said, “At DAV University, we believe in nurturing not just academic excellence but also entrepreneurial thinking among students. Sessions like these bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations, empowering students to explore opportunities in the BFSI sector with confidence.”
The keynote speaker, Vikram Sood, CEO of One-to-Many Financial Services, brought with him an extensive experience of 38 years in the BFSI sector. Addressing the students, he highlighted that success in the financial domain is not solely dependent on technical knowledge but also requires discipline, consistency, and the right mindset.
During the interactive session, Sood elaborated on key aspects of personal financial planning, including mutual funds, Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), and long-term wealth creation strategies. He also provided valuable insights into the career pathway of becoming a financial advisor and discussed emerging freelancing opportunities in the insurance sector, encouraging students to explore flexible and independent career options.
The event was effectively coordinated by Assistant Professors Taranjot Kaur, Bhavya Kaushal, and Neha under the guidance of Dean CBME and Humanities, Dr. Gitika Nagrath, and IIC President, Dr. Sandeep Vij.
Proposing the vote of thanks, Dr. Sandeep Vij stated, “We are grateful to our esteemed speaker for sharing his vast industry experience and practical insights. Such initiatives by the IIC aim to inspire students to think innovatively and make the most of emerging entrepreneurial avenues while continuing their academic journey.”
