Innocent Hearts College of Education organized an Awareness Seminar on HIV & AIDS at Gandhi Vanita Ashram
The Red Ribbon club of Innocent Hearts College of Education visited the Gandhi Vanita Ashram, Jalandhar with an aim to spread awareness about Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) amongst the girls residing in the ashram.
Jalandhar, November 17, 2025: The Red Ribbon club of Innocent Hearts College of Education visited the Gandhi Vanita Ashram, Jalandhar with an aim to spread awareness about Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) amongst the girls residing in the ashram. Red Ribbon Club (RRC) members Geetika, Ishaan and Karan made descriptive posters and flashcards beforehand for displaying the symptoms of HIV and national toll-free helpline numbers during the awareness seminar.
Gandhi Vanita Ashram CDPO Sarita, Asst. Ambika, CPO Amneet Kaur, Superintendent Children Home Bharat Bhushan, Asst Supt. Ashok Kumar, all Gandhi Vanita Ashram staff members and RRC Incharge Tarunjyoti Kaur Innocent Hearts College of Education were present on the occasion along with twenty RRC members of the college and around sixty ashram girls. RRC member Mehak Sharma started the session by highlighting the motto of the Red Ribbon club - ‘Uniting Hearts, Empowering Lives’. All the Red Ribbon club members had worn red ribbons to signify awareness, care and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS and also to fight against it. RRC member, Ruchika explained the difference between HIV and AIDS as well as facts and myths related to HIV transmission. RRC member Mandeep Bhardwaj further explained its prevention, treatment measures, helpline numbers and ways to deal with it. RRC incharge, Tarunjyoti Kaur explained precautions related to daily life situations. A quiz was also conducted by RRC members Avneet Kaur and Simranjit Kaur to fight against the stigma attached to HIV with cooperation and will power. The ashram girls participated actively in the quiz. Prizes were bestowed to the winners. Personal hygiene kits were distributed to all the girls residing in the ashram.
