These views were expressed by MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia while inaugurating a one-day training program on general first aid and disaster management, organized by the Youth Red Cross (YRC) committee at Swaraj Sadan.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia stated that it is crucial to understand the three key phases of disaster management: preparedness before a disaster, risk reduction, and effective response during a disaster. He emphasized the need to provide training in first aid, CPR, and firefighting not only to students but also to the university's security personnel, as well as library and hostel staff.
Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal remarked that the role of YRC volunteers is vital during disasters. He urged the students to take the training seriously and acquire practical proficiency.
Ravi Dutt, District Training Officer of the District Red Cross Society, Rohtak, conducted a technical session on the "Golden Rules of First Aid." A team from the Civil Defense Office, Rohtak, provided training on "Shield and Serve: Civil Defense Emergency Training." Fire Station Officer Jasmed and his team conducted training and a practical demonstration on disaster management. YRC Program Coordinator Prof. Anju Dhiman delivered the welcome address, while Dean, Student Welfare Prof. Sapna Garg highlighted the significance of the program.
